SWING

SWING was founded in September 2004, with financial support from the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to address sexual health and targeted HIV prevention and care, to vulnerable persons in Thailand: www.swingthailand.org

All About SWING

SWING was among the first non-governmental organizations, to target adult venues and entertainment workers of all sexual and gender identities, including migrants, people with disabilities, and those living with HIV, to ensure their access to life saving HIV prevention and treatment. Being embedded in the community enables SWING to meet the changing priorities of the population, and this has taken on a new role during the COVID-19 pandemic, as SWING supported people, struggling with COVID, with food, psychosocial support and medical care.

SWING manages 3 clinics in Silom, Sapankwai and Pattaya.  HIV services are friendly to all persons, including targeted support for LGBTQI+. Every year, services reach and benefit some 30,000 persons.

SWING is accredited by the Division of AIDS and STIs (DAS), Department of Disease Control, as a service provider.  SWING has strong partnerships with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Ministry of Labour (MoL), Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MoSDHS), Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), Pattaya Municipality Administration (PMA), as well as local hospitals and law enforcement authorities.

In addition to donor funding from USAID since 2004, SWING has also received support and grants from The Global Fund (both for HIV and TB programs), as well as UN Agencies (the ILO, UNAIDS, UNDP and UNFPA) and the Australian, British, French and Japanese Embassies, including support to assist Thai communities, during COVID-19.
